The trade fair automatica in Munich is one of the world’s leading trade fairs for intelligent automation and robotics. With a large number of renowned exhibitors, it attracts both regional and international visitors. It is therefore the ideal platform for presenting innovative products and solutions in the fields of industry, mechanical engineering, robotics, and automation technology. Of course, we from ACD Elektronik GmbH will also be taking advantage of this opportunity and will be presenting our TÜV-certified, mobile, and wireless M2Smart® HMI system at automatica 2025. In addition to presenting our innovative HMI system, our main focus during the trade fair will be on personal exchanges with the numerous users, developers, and decision-makers. As a regionally rooted manufacturer that develops and produces all of its products and solutions in Germany, we see ourselves not only as a supplier of various mobile devices for logistics and industry, but also as a partner on equal terms – throughout the entire life cycle of our products.
Our mobile and wireless M2Smart® HMI system for safe and secure operation of machines, systems, robots and automated guided vehicle will be the focus of our trade fair appearance at automatica 2025. With this system, we have succeeded in transferring the familiar operating concept of smartphones and tablets to the safe and secure control of industrial machines, systems, robots, and AGVs.
A wireless HMI system has several advantages over stationary control systems and is much more versatile in terms of its range of applications. In combination with the modular design of our control devices, for example, it is possible to operate several different machines and systems with just one control device. Furthermore, our HMI can also be used as a personal device, allowing employees to customize their HMI settings. However, wireless data transmission between the machine and the operating device over the air also presents challenges, especially when it comes to data security. One thing is clear: ACD Elektronik has mastered this challenge with flying colors.
Mobile, secure, and familiar
With the M2Smart® HMI system, safety-related data is transmitted between the M2Smart® HMI and an M2Smart® Gateway using BT-compatible short-range radio. The gateway is connected to the machine’s safety PLC and the radio link is secured using a black channel procedure. Non-safety-related data is transferred directly between the machine to be operated and the operating device. A BT-compatible short-range radio or, alternatively, WiFi is also available for this purpose. If WiFi is used, our M2Smart® HMI Access Point can also be used to establish a stable connection.
There are two control devices to choose from: the M2Smart® HMI10 with a 10.1-inch display and the M2Smart® HMI5 with a 5-inch display. All mobile and wireless control devices in the M2Smart® HMI family can be combined with any M2Smart® Gateway. This gives users the flexibility to decide whether they want to use a tablet-format operating device or a smartphone-format device.
