More freedom in machine operation – ACD Elektronik presents the wireless M2Smart® HMI system in Düsseldorf and Chemnitz!
This autumn, ACD Elektronik GmbH will be represented at two all about automation trade fairs, a regional trade fair series for industrial automation. The first event will be all about automation Düsseldorf, which will take place on September 17 and 18, 2025, at the Areal Böhler. Just a few days later, on September 30 and October 1, 2025, all about automation Chemnitz will open its doors at the Chemnitz Exhibition Center. The entire all about automation trade fair series is guided by the motto “regional, compact, competent” and is based on a special concept: Standardized booth designs ensure a harmonious overall impression, short distances make it easy for visitors to visit different companies, and the consciously personal atmosphere creates ideal conditions for technical discussions on equal terms. The result is a trade fair experience that not only promotes professional exchange but also supports the establishment of sustainable business contacts.
The focus of ACD Elektronik’s trade fair presentation at the two trade fairs in Düsseldorf and Chemnitz is the mobile and wireless M2Smart® HMI system. This was developed for operating a wide variety of industrial machines and systems, robots, and automated guided vehicles. In other words: for diverse use in a wide variety of industrial environments. The operating concept is based on the familiar operating philosophy of tablets and smartphones, but without neglecting safety, security and robustness. The absence of cables and the resulting mobility of the system offer clear advantages over the stationary or cable bound operating systems commonly found in practice.
The range of applications is many times greater and, in combination with the modular design of the M2Smart® HMI devices, it is possible to operate several different machines quickly and efficiently in succession with just one device. In order for the operating devices to be used in an industrial environment, they must meet significantly higher safety and security requirements than standard tablets, for example. To ensure data security, the M2Smart® HMI system uses a black channel procedure to transfer safety-relevant data via BT-compatible short-range radio to an M2Smart® Gateway. This in turn is connected to the safety PLC of the machine to be operated. Non-safety-relevant data is transferred directly between the machine and the operating device, also via BT-compatible short-range radio or WiFi.
Two versions of the operating device are available: the M2Smart® HMI10 with a 10.1-inch display and the more compact M2Smart® HMI5 with a 5-inch display. All mobile and wireless operating devices in the M2Smart® HMI system can be freely combined with the other components of the M2Smart® HMI system. This gives users the flexibility to decide whether they want to use a tablet-format device or a smartphone-format device for control purposes.
