With Imagis and the mobile handheld computer M315 on the one hand the administrative effort for the acquisition, documentation and archiving of wounds is reduced. On the other hand, completeness and quality of wound documentation are significantly improved. With its optimized software Imagis, the Mobile Handheld Computer M315 and the direct connection to the Hospital Information System (HIS), ACD Elektronik GmbH provides a novelty in mobile wound documentation in the hospital sector. Imagis shows its strengths in combination with the M315, which among other things features a five megapixel autofocus camera with illumination as well as an integrated ultrasonic sensor for distance measurement. Thus wounds can be photographed, measured and documented directly on site without contact. The integrated sensor provides an optical distance measurement which ensures the comparability of the images and automatically measures and calculates the wound. No other media are necessary for the acquisition.

Despite acute staff shortage and time pressure in the clinics, a complete wound documentation has so far meant an enormous expenditure of time. This effort is accompanied by a very time-consuming, manual wound image assignment to the patient, which contains many sources of error. The mobile documentation software Imagis provides a remedy. With Imagis the wound documentation is carried out paperlessly directly on site at the patient. The large, five inch display with capacitive touch screen of the M315 supports the optimal user guidance and provides a large and clear presentation of the application. Further information on the wound and information requests are freely configurable. The direct input to describe the wound on the mobile terminal avoids duplication of work and ensures efficient working. The registration of wounds is contactless; thus, the creation of a template or ruler is no longer necessary. Safe and error-free working, as well as painless treatment for the patient are the positive effects here. After recording the wound with integrated camera and ultrasound sensor, all relevant wound data, such as area, dimensions and circumference are calculated automatically. Thus no errors occur during the calculation. Due to a uniform wound distance an exact representation of the wound course is possible and the wound images are always comparable. This provides the user with an up-to-date overview of the status of wound healing or wound progression. A further plus is the HIS connection via an HL7 interface. This enables direct data transfer (online or offline), guarantees the completeness of the patient file and ensures the availability of the latest data. IMAGIS is a simple and intuitively designed software that requires very little training and is very user-friendly. For hospital operators this means high flexibility in personnel planning and minimal training costs.
